11 Erik ten Hag admitted he didn’t know if his future would be at Manchester United after he guided the Red Devils to the FA Cup.
United beat rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley to get their hands on the famous trophy for the first time since 2016.
Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sent the Red Devils into a two goal lead, before Jeremy Doku reduced the deficit inside the final five minutes to set up a nervy finish, but United held firm to ensure the red side of Manchester was celebrating for a change.
Ten Hag doesn’t know if his future will be at United
The build up to the game was dominated by reports such as this one by The Guardian which stated United had taken the decision to sack Ten hag regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup final.
Ten Hag has overseen a difficult season at Old Trafford which saw the Red Devils finish a lowly eighth and exit the Champions League at the group stage, with many fans wanting him sacked.
However, the Dutchman ended the campaign with silverware, his second trophy in two seasons at the club, but when questioned on his future he admitted he was unsure if it would be at Old Trafford.
Ten hag has won two trophies in two seasons at Manchester United.“I don’t know, the only thing I’m doing is preparing my team, developing my team”, he said in quotes picked up by BBC Sport.
“This is a project for me, when I came in I can say it was a mess, now we are better, we are not where we want to be.
“Football is about winning trophies, I want to play the best football, dynamic, attacking football but in the end you have to win games and trophies.
“That’s the mentality we brought in, this was our one opportunity and we did it.

“I‘m very proud of the players and staff.”
If indeed this is Ten Hag’s final game in charge he can depart with his head held high having won two trophies during his time at the club.
The likes of Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank have been touted as possible replacements should Ineos decide to part ways with the 54-year-old.
