Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful that three players will return to the team ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag gave a positive team news update when he met with reporters on Friday afternoon at Carrington.
The Reds have had horrible luck on the injury front this season, but thankfully it looks like three players will be available again after sustained periods out of the team.
Ten Hag confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could all return in time to take on the Scousera this weekend.
“We had a good week,” Ten Hag said, as per the Manchester Evening News. “The players you mention (Hojlund, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka) returned on the pitch, partly at the start of the week and today they had a session and are all training.
“I think [they will be fit to play]. Tomorrow we have one session. We have to see how they recover from this but it looks good.”
It will be a huge bonus to have Rasmus Hojlund back fit as we’ve seen Marcus Rashford lead the line and Bruno Fernandes playing as a false nine in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, the return of Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka means we shouldn’t be shoehorning any players into unfamiliar roles. Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat have both played at left-back in recent weeks due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both being ruled out with injuries.
Ten Hag will be hoping to have new signing Mason Mount back available soon. The manager also revealed that Tom Heaton has returned to training.
“Tom Heaton is back as well, also very good,” he added. “Mason Mount trained all week with us, he had some full sessions with us, so it’s looking good.”
