Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has dropped a transfer hint and shared his verdict on two loan deals as his side look to do business in January.

The Red Devils have been linked to a number of star names in the current window but Ten Hag has hinted United may look to bring some players in on loan.

That’s what United did last January, signing Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst on loan from Bayern Munich and Burnley respectively.

Ten Hag has given his opinion on the duo as he was asked about new potential loan deals for United.

‘You always have to consider such choices,’ Ten Hag said. ‘Two very good loans, [Marcel] Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst really contributed to our success last year.‌

‘When such opportunities come up, we have to take them. At the same time, you have to analyse what we have on board, what is coming up.’

Ten Hag is only interested in players who will ‘fight for the badge’ after already falling out with several stars during his tenure including Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

‘If you want to perform, you need hungry players,’ Ten Hag added. ‘We need personalities and players who are very hungry to fight for the badge and this club.

‘It is not about discipline, it is about normal behaviour. It is about what you can expect from a top professional.’

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton has argued that Ten Hag could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season following United’s abysmal first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
