Despite their recent improvement, Alan Brazil is certain that Erik ten Hag will be fired by Manchester United at the end of the season.

The club’s worst start to a season in decades has put pressure on the Dutchman, but United have turned things around recently. Their 2-1 win against Aston Villa has extended their unbeaten run to six games.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the head of INEOS, will ultimately determine Ten Hag’s future. He has taken over sporting operations at Old Trafford in accordance with the terms of his £1.25 billion agreement for a minority part in the club.

Although things have recently improved, Brazil is not at all optimistic about Ten Hag’s ability to continue in the position in the long run, stating that he has heard that players in the team are just “not having” the former Ajax manager.

Speaking to talkSPORT BET, Brazil said: “Unless Manchester United go on a remarkable run, I still think Erik ten Hag will be gone by the end of the season. I honestly don’t think that the players are having him. There’s always a chance that winning silverware, maybe the FA Cup could be enough to keep him in the job though.‌

“If they start scoring more goals and getting the fans behind them then things might change, but they’ve just had so many performances this season where you think, ‘Oh my God, come on, you’re better than this!’

“But the last few games, including that win over Aston Villa, have been a bit better so we’ll see. The whispers I’m hearing are the players are not having him. They say he has no man management skills whatsoever.”

The United manager has 18 months left on his current contract and rumours have started about his future at the club.

A lot still depends on where the club stands at the end of the season. A place in the top four of the Premier League and success in the FA Cup can work wonders for ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.

The club is set to be active in the summer transfer window with additions expected in every position. Some off the pitch issues and injuries to key players have not helped ten Hag’s cause this season.

In a more stable environment, he has shown he can work well and produce some big results.
