Man United are close to announcing the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazroaui from Bayern Munich and once complete, the Premier League giants will focus on bringing a midfielder to Old Trafford.
It has been a busy summer for the Manchester club having acquired the services of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, while De Ligt and Mazroaui are also in Manchester on Monday to complete their transfers before being announced.
Once the Bayern Munich duo have been pictured in a Man United kit, Erik ten Hag’s focus will move on to bringing a number six to Old Trafford.
The role is a crucial part of the Dutch coach’s set up and the current player in that position is Casemiro, who struggled massively at the Premier League giants last season. The 32-year-old looked way past his best and therefore, Ten Hag is keen to find a replacement.
According to Football Insider, Man United are targeting a move for Manuel Ugarte, Youssouf Fofana or Sander Berge before the transfer window shuts as the addition of a number six is a priority for the Manchester club.

PSG’s Ugarte has been Man United’s top target for the majority of the summer and the Premier League club have already agreed personal terms with the player as the Uruguay star is keen to move to Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils have yet to reach and agreement with PSG over a transfer fee as the Ligue 1 club are demanding £59m to part ways with the 23-year-old, reports the Daily Mail.
United are not willing to match this price and therefore, the Manchester club have started looking at alternatives. Football Insider reports that Monaco’s Fofana is next in line and if United cannot sign the French star, Burnley’s Berge could be an option.
Man United will remain hopeful of striking a deal for Ugarte as it is a transfer that could run late into the transfer window.
