Manchester United made two comebacks against Liverpool to advance to the FA Cup semi-final at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag stated after the game that he hopes this win would be somewhat of a catalyst to turn around his team’s season, which has been fairly mediocre by the Red Devils standards.

The Dutchman expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance on the weekend as Manchester United clinched a 4-3 victory in added extra time, thanks to Amad Diallo’s decisive breakaway goal. This came as Tottenham and Aston Villa both stumbled, giving United an advantage in the race for the Premier League’s top four.

Speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s long-term position has intensified since Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7 percent share of the club. However, the manager believes that this victory could be a turning point, potentially solidifying his position at the helm.

He said after the game in his post-match press conference: “Every team needs a moment into a season and we have never had this moment. This could be the moment where the team can have the belief and energy that they can do amazing things.

“I think when you can beat Liverpool in the way we did you can beat any opponent – it is up to us to prove that point. Today we did.”

He added: “It was a good win but I’ve had some more good wins, I can tell you. For me winning a trophy is more. Maybe it can be very important towards winning another trophy.”

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag can now look forward to an FA Cup semi-final tie at Wembley Stadium against Championship outfit Coventry City.

Last season, the Red Devils claimed the Carabao Cup on their way to a third place finish. Supporters certainly won’t complain if the club can repeat similar success this term.
