Erik ten Hag is prepared to sacrifice Facundo Pellistri to give chances to a different Manchester United star who he feels has a ‘brighter future’.

The 22-year-old is set to join Spanish side Granada on loan for the remainder of the season, in what will be his third spell in La Liga since moving to Old Trafford.
Uruguay international winger Pellistri has struggled for game time this term and normally comes off the bench for the closing stages of matches.
Pellistri, who joined United four years ago, has been an unused substitute in United’s last three Premier League fixtures and is under contract until 2025.
He has made a total of 14 appearances for the Red Devils this season – most notably against Bayern Munich and Crystal Palace in the Champions League and Carabao Cup – where he played 81 minutes and 90 minutes respectively.
But Pellistri does not appear to be a part of Ten Hag’s long-term plans with the Daily Mail reporting that the Dutchman believes fellow youngster Omari Forson is a more exciting prospect.
Ten Hag is thought to be concerned over losing Forson amid news that the England U20s international rejected United’s latest contract offer.
The 19-year-old, who can be deployed as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, sees his current deal expire this summer.
Ten Hag handed Forson his first-team debut in the FA Cup win over Wigan and he appeared again in Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Newport County in the fourth round.
Forson helped United U18s win the FA Youth Cup in 2022 and he spent time in the youth academies at West Ham and Tottenham before joining United in 2019.
