Nottingham Forest host Manchester United on Wednesday evening in a fifth-round FA Cup tie at The City Ground.
The last time the sides locked horns at the stadium, Forest claimed their first home win over the Red Devils since 1995, reigning victorious 2-1 by the full-time whistle.
As such, there’s no doubt that Erik ten Hag and his men will have the defeat at the forefront of their minds when they make the trip to the Midlands. Not only does the clash provide a chance to make amends, but the FA Cup is United’s only chance of lifting a trophy this season, and ending the term with no silverware would only heap further pressure on the manager’s shoulders.
Team news vs Forest
In terms of his options for the 7.45pm kick-off, Ten Hag confirmed this afternoon in his press conference that Casemiro has been cleared to play following what appeared to be a concussion substitution when he was withdrawn early last Saturday, though thankfully, this was not the case.
It came after a clash of heads with Harrison Reed and left the Brazilian requiring treatment.
“So it was bleeding, so he had to come off,” the Dutchman explained. “It was not to our advantage that he couldn’t continue the game. But he’s available for tomorrow.”
Elsewhere, there’ll be seemingly no changes in personnel; the lenghty list of absentees is the same for the forthcoming fixture, but it remains to be seen if anyone could return for Sunday’s Manchester derby.
