Haaland found the target for the first time since November having returned from a foot injury that saw him miss ten games across all competitions.

He proved key to City's Premier League title success last season and is set to be a key difference for them once again in the coming months.

The striker's return after a lengthy spell out of action is a welcome sight for his side and he revealed his true feelings about the setback after the victory.

TNT Sports pundit Ferdinand referred to his City teammate Kevin De Bruyne and how he said he needed a break when recovering from his hamstring injury.

But when Haaland was asked if he enjoyed a spell out through injury, he was a source of laughter for Ferdinand and Lescott, as he said: "Nah it's been horrible.

"I really don't like it. But again though, it makes you appreciate more going into training everyday.

"Appreciate meeting up to games, being a bit nervous before the game and all of these kind of things.

"So it makes your mind think a bit different, now just coming into training I appreciate it so much more suddenly because I know how it is without it. It makes you think, you know?"

City failed to get a shot on target against Everton in the opening period, the first time they have done so at home since August 2022.

Their breakthrough finally came in the 71st minute when Haaland fired in from inside the area as the Toffees failed to clear a corner.

He then scored his second of the afternoon with five minutes to go, doing so from an excellent De Bruyne through ball.

Haaland now has 16 Premier League goals to his name this campaign and is leading the Golden Boot race.
