Erling Haaland believes Arsenal ‘rival’ Martin Odegaard would improve Manchester City if he swapped teams in the summer.
Odegaard has made 141 appearances for the Gunners since moving to north London from Real Madrid, producing 33 goals and 23 assists in that time.
He is one of Mikel Arteta’s most important players and the 25-year-old midfielder was handed the captain’s armband in July 2022.
There is no suggestion Odegaard would move to the Etihad from the Emirates butthat did not stop one reporter from asking Haaland about it on Thursday.
Quizzed if City would be a ‘better team’ with his Norway international teammate Odegaard in the side, Haaland said: ‘Yes, I think so.
‘There’s a good player, and a player that plays for our rivals.
‘He’s just signed a new contract, so it’s not a topic, but at City we have a lot of best players in the world.’
Haaland and Odegaard are currently on international duty for Norway, who are set for friendly fixtures against the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
After the international break, Haaland and Odegaard will come up against each other as City host Arsenal on March 31.
Pep Guardiola has described that showdown as a ‘final’ with both teams locked in a tense Premier League title race.
