Erling Haaland is currently once again top scorer in the Premier League.

The Manchester City striker following up 36 goals last season, with 18 goals so far this time.

Looking at these stats below on the BBC Sport site, I couldn’t though help but think what could have been possible for Alexander Isak this season if he had stayed fit and available all season…

These are the seven Premier League players to have scored 15 or more goals so far and how they compare on these various metrics when it comes to goals scored / threat:

18 Erling Haaland – Average of 112 minutes per goal, average of 0.80 goals per 90 minutes, 23% goal conversion, 57% shot accuracy

16 Ollie Watkins – Average of 163 minutes per goal, average of 0.55 goals per 90 minutes, 23% goal conversion, 57% shot accuracy

16 Mo Salah – Average of 119 minutes per goal, average of 0.75 goals per 90 minutes, 24% goal conversion, 59% shot accuracy

16 Dominic Solanke – Average of 167 minutes per goal, average of 0.54 goals per 90 minutes, 24% goal conversion, 48% shot accuracy

15 Alexander Isak – Average of 106 minutes per goal, average of 0.85 goals per 90 minutes, 35% goal conversion, 67% shot accuracy

15 Son Heung-min – Average of 151 minutes per goal, average of 0.60 goals per 90 minutes, 29% goal conversion, 62% shot accuracy

15 Jarrod Bowen – Average of 180 minutes per goal, average of 0.50 goals per 90 minutes, 29% goal conversion, 62% shot accuracy

In the four categories, Erling Haaland is now top in none of them.

Erling Haaland has scored with 23% of his chances BUT Alexander Isak has scored with 35% of his.

Erling Haaland has an impressive shot accuracy of 57% BUT Alexander Isak has an excellent 67% shot accuracy.

Erling Haaland scored on average 0.80 goals per 90 minutes BUT Alexander Isak has scored on average 0.85 goals per 90 minutes.

Erling Haaland has scored a goal on average every 112 minutes BUT Alexander Isak has scored on average every 106 minutes.

Indeed, Alexander Isak doesn’t just beat Erling Haaland on all of these four goal threat metrics, he beats ALL these other goalscorers on all four metrics!

As I said above, imagine if Alexander Isak hadn’t had injuries interrupting his season…
