Ethan Page will challenge for the gold at NXT Battleground.
Ethan Page made a surprise appearance on the May 28 episode of WWE NXT. There, he attacked NXT Champion Trick Williams. On the June 4 episode of WWE NXT, Ethan Page met with General Manager Ava and noted that he was a free agent, and he was ready to hammer out the deal.
Ava later said that Page had a lot of demands as part of his negotiations. At the end of the show, Page and Ava came to the ring. Page said that he was the wrestler with the most upside in the business, and Ava had to sign him.
Williams eventually came down and encouraged Ava to give Page whatever he wanted, as he aimed to make an example out of the newcomer. Page revealed that, by signing the contract, Ava would be giving him a title shot against Williams at NXT Battleground. Williams accepted the challenge, and Ava signed the contract, so the match was made official.
Page left AEW/ROH earlier in 2024. He had not wrestled for ROH since February. Page’s departure was reported at the beginning of May.
