Scroll Airdrop Tokenomics
According to an official blog post, Scroll has allocated 7% of the total supply of its native token SCR to its first airdrop. This token allocation will specifically reward on-chain contributors, ecosystem projects, and global community members for their role in building a thriving Scroll ecosystem.
The airdrop distribution will see onchain contributors receiving 55,000,000 SCR tokens, about 5.5% of the total supply. These individuals have actively contributed to driving Scroll’s growth and innovation through their on-chain activities in its Sessions Program.
Notably, 40,000,000 SCR of the 55 million token allocations will go to onchain participants who have accumulated 200 or more Marks as of October 19, 2024. In addition, Scroll will award 10,000,000 SCR as a Flat Boost, equally dispersed among all qualifying on-chain participants. This is designed to ensure all eligible onchain participants receive a meaningful drop, regardless of their Marks count.
Another major category of contributors that Scroll recognized in its first airdrop is ecosystem projects. These are projects built on Scroll with a focus on growth and innovation. Over 100 projects qualify for this allocation based on two key metrics: Total Value Locked (TVL) as of Snapshot and native integration with Scroll. To show gratitude for their support, Scroll dedicated 6,977,000 SCR tokens to these initiatives.
The third category recognized in the Scroll’s first airdrop includes industry contributors. This category comprises ZK researchers, open-source developers, technical contributors, and educational data providers supporting the broader Ethereum ecosystem. Scroll allocated a total of 275,000 SCR tokens to 90 authors of ZK research papers. 664 open-source contributors will receive 1,660,000 SCR tokens, while DeFiLlama, L2Beat, and GrowThePie will each receive 50,000 SCR.
Finally, Scroll recognized over 600 unique contributors across four key global communities. They include Global Community Organizers, Hackathon Winners, Devcon Communities, and Top Ethereum Translators.
Note that the snapshot for assessing airdrop eligibility was taken on October 19, 2024, at 00:00 UTC. Those who meet the requirements can start filing claims by October 22, 2024, at 07:00 UTC. The claim period is open for 90 days. Eligible users are advised to visit the Airdrop Claim page to secure their tokens.
What Scroll’s Future Looks Like
Scroll’s future plans include product development and expansion into international markets while onboarding new users. Scroll may also improve zkEVM functionalities and user interfaces, further strengthening its position in the Layer-2 sector.
Furthermore, Scroll may seek to create strategic partnerships with other blockchain initiatives, DeFi platforms, and institutional participants. This aligns with Scroll’s mission to close the opportunity gap, especially in the global south, by building a decentralized trust network.
Meanwhile, Binance recently introduced new listing trading pairs for SCR tokens. Deposits for SCR are now open, while withdrawals are scheduled to start on October 23.
