Cameroon won against Gambia, but the altercation between André Onana and Samuel Eto’o is controversial.

Tensions have emerged within the Cameroonian national team. Although Cameroon qualified for the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations by beating Gambia 3-2 on Tuesday, the victory of the Indomitable Lions was overshadowed by a dispute between André Onana and the president of the Federation Cameroonian football club (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, according to Sport News Africa.

Indeed, coach Rigobert Song chose to start goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, who has 51 caps, in place of Onana, who has 38. This decision was poorly received by the Manchester United goalkeeper, who learned of the news the same morning of the match. A verbal altercation then broke out between Onana and the president of FECAFOOT, which remained without response from the latter. Finally, the goalkeeper calmed down and agreed to stay in the team despite his status as a substitute.
