Journalist Gerard Romero (h/t Carpetas Blaugranas) has brought to light that some players at Athletic Bilbao are advising Nico Williams to steer clear of a move to Barcelona.

The main reason behind this advice is Barcelona’s shaky financial situation. It seems that everyone knows Barcelona want Nico on their team, but the club is struggling with money issues.

Despite their strong efforts so far, they have not been able to make any progress in securing the young player’s transfer.

Barcelona have nothing in their favour

Barcelona have been working hard to manage their tight finances and bring Nico on board. They see great potential in him and believe he could be a valuable addition to their squad.

However, their attempts have hit a roadblock because Athletic Club are firm on the €58 million transfer fee. This amount is not negotiable as it is set by his release clause, making it a significant hurdle for Barcelona to overcome.

Right now, everything between Barcelona and Nico’s agent is settled. The only thing left is for Nico to give his nod of approval. If he agrees, the transfer can move forward.

But there is an increasing concern within Barcelona’s camp about the possibility of Paris Saint-Germain swooping in and making a move for Nico.

PSG are known for its strong financial position, and they could easily meet the release clause, adding another layer of complexity to Barcelona’s efforts.

Amid all this, Nico Williams’ teammates at Athletic Bilbao have started to voice their opinions. They are urging him not to go to Barcelona.

Their primary concern is the financial instability at Barça. They believe that this could impact Nico’s career negatively if he decides to join a club that is struggling to manage its finances.

They argue that staying at Athletic Bilbao might be a more secure and stable option for him at this stage of his career.
