Bayern Munich are preparing to hold talks with Mathys Tel amid reported interest from Manchester United.

It had previously been suggested that the frontman was mulling over an exit from the Allianz Arena after just two years with the Bundesliga giants; he signed from French outfit Rennes in 2022 for a fee of £24.4 million.

Tel has notched 13 goals and four assists in 58 Bayern appearances, receiving plaudits for his clinical finishing, devastating pace and dribbling. Such qualities have sparked the attention of United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, with all sides keen on acquiring the highly-rated 18-year-old.

Harry Kane’s widely-covered move to Bayern last summer saw Tel fall in the pecking order because if the England skipper is fit, he’ll certainly be starting. Thomas Tuchel has granted the teenager just one start in the league with a further 19 appearances coming off the bench, which according to BILD, had left him ‘seriously considering’ a new venture elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that Bayern have held talks with the player’s agent and discussed the prospect of him signing a new deal despite his current one running until 2027. They want to make it clear to Tel that he’s a ‘key part of [their] future project’.
