An official statement was released by Everton on Friday 21 June 2024.
This confirmed an agreement with the new prospective owners of the club
Everton announcing that they had given The Friedkin Group’ a period of exclusivity in order to complete a purchase of the club.
Only for that takeover to collapse on 19 July 2024, when the prospective new owners pulled out, due to the fact of just how bad the financial mess is at Goodison Park.
A month later and now the breaking news (see below) from BBC Sport, is that Everton have now granted a period of exclusivity to another potential buyer.
This time it is John Textor, who will need to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace if any Everton takeover is to happen.
Interesting once again to see what happens next at the never ending Everton circus.
BBC Sport breaking news on Everton – 15 August 2024:
‘Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has granted a period of exclusivity to John Textor as the American businessman aims to purchase a majority stake in the Premier League club.
BBC Sport understands discussions have taken place around the feasibility of an agreement, but a deal is not close at this stage.
Textor is the latest party in the frame to take over the Toffees after talks broke down with both 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group this summer.
However, any deal is dependent on Textor selling his 45% stake in Crystal Palace, as Premier League rules prohibit individuals from owning more than one team.’
