Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has heaped praise on midfielder Joelinton.
The Brazilian has been a key player for Newcastle since switching his role from that of a striker to a midfielder.
Howe and former Newcastle star Alan Shearer have now lavished praise on the South American, with the club legend labelling Joelinton as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Howe agreed to Shearer’s remarks as well, stating that Joelinton’s physicality makes it difficult for opponents to play against him.
“He is just a tower and strength in midfield,” said Shearer. “The turnaround from this player is incredible. Everything about him is class, he’s one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He’s a giant of a midfielder. He never shies away from wanting the ball even in really difficult positions.”
Responding to Shearer’s comments, Howe said: “Yeah, I do agree with him. When he’s at his best, I would absolutely hate to play against him. He is physically incredible, and I think you’d have seen that last week – he was at his best physically.”

Joelinton has added creativity, presence and drive to the Newcastle midfield. He is certainly an indispensable asset for the Magpies.
The player will be delighted with the words of praise from his manager and a club legend. He will look to help Newcastle finish high up the table this season and get them back into the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the Newcastle fans will be delighted to see that the club have managed to secure his long term future recently. Joelinton signed an extension with the club back in April and the Magpies will hope that the £40 million signing can continue to perform at a high level this season.
Newcastle have started the season well with a win over Southampton and it will be interesting to see if they can build on their impressive start with a win over Bournemouth later today.
