'Evil' Star Katja Herbers Addresses Rumor About Show's Cancellation

Katja Herbers opened up about the cancellation of her acclaimed Paramount+ show Evil.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the series would come to a close after its fourth season.

Collider ran a story about the cancellation recently, which included a rumor about what happened to lead to the conclusion of the critically acclaimed series.

The outlet reported that filming was paused in May 2023 amid the strikes in Hollywood. However, the shutdown was reportedly “due to a personal family matter that befell one of the show’s actors, one that affected their availability to complete any additional filming.”

“It would explain why the series was inexplicably axed, and, if that situation was indeed the catalyst, it speaks volumes about the cast and crew of the series that rather than killing off the actor’s character, or recasting, they chose to end it, ‘all for one and one for all,’ as they say,” the outlet continued.

Katja took to social media to address the report.

On X (Formerly Twitter), she confirmed that she did have to leave set for a family matter. However, no one – included creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King – wanted the show to end.

“To set the record straight on our cancellation: nobody wanted it. Both the Kings & the actors want to do more. I am the one who had the family matter & was thankfully granted to leave with 6 days left to film to go to my father,” she wrote.
