Apple TV+ is returning to the Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman motorcycle franchise.

The streamer is adding once again to the Long Wayfranchise that it revived in 2020, with an untitled show set a bit closer to home for the Hollywood star and TV presenter.

Produced by Long Way Round Ltd, the new season follows the pair as they ride vintage, refurbished motorbikes from McGregor’s home in Scotland to Boorman’s in England, but rather than take the shortest route, they go the long way. They head across the North Sea to Scandinavia, all the way up to the Arctic Circle and then down to the Baltics, through continental Europe, before eventually hopping back over the English Channel two months later.

“On a rather tricky, sandy bit of Long Way Up, Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand,” said McGregor. “This is that trip. Rusty old bikes and 10,000 miles of Scandinavia, and Eastern and Central Europe. A big loop from my house in Scotland to Charley’s house in England. Long way home…magic.”

The pair revived the two-decades-old franchise to make Long Way Up for Apple TV+ in 2020, in which they journeyed from Argentina to LA. That show followed Long Way Round and Long Way Down, similar trips the pair took in the mid-noughties, the first for Sky and the second for the BBC. All three series are currently available on Apple TV+.

The new series is executive produced by McGregor and Boorman alongside longtime collaborators, David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who also direct.
