Former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest, according to reports.
Sarri resigned as Napoli manager earlier this month following a run of five defeats in six matches, while his side were also knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
The 65-year-old, who joined Lazio in 2021, guided the Italian club to second place in Serie A last season, their best finish since they won the title in 2000.
But he departed Lazio with the team sitting ninth in Serie A, seven points off a European qualification place.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, Sarri has been offered an immediate return to management by Forest, who have offered the Italian a three-year contract to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, the report claims that Sarri has rejected Forest’s offer and wants to return to football in the summer.
Forest, meanwhile, have launched an appeal against their four-point deduction from the Premier League.
Forest were found guilty of breaching profitability and sustainability rules following their decision to delay the sale of Brennan Johnson in a £47.5 million deal to Tottenham last year.
The four-point deduction has left Forest 18th in the Premier League, a point behind Luton Town with nine games remaining.
Since taking over from Steve Cooper in December, Santo has guided Forest to three wins in 12 Premier League games.
