Former Premier League striker Emile Heskey has joined security services company, Octavian Security UK, as company director.

Heskey will balance this new role alongside his duty as Head of Football Development at Leicester City Women, a position he has held since 2021.

Heskey said: “I’m delighted to finally join Octavian. The company is a real route for progression for me. I first met Sukhi at school and we’ve really worked on this relationship for the last 15 years.

“The business and corporate world offers great rewards for elite athletes and they share so many synergies with elite entrepreneurs. It’s my mission to encourage more athletes into the business world to not only learn, but also share their winning mindset and help businesses grow.”

His new position was put into his eyeline by long-time friend and founder of Octavian, Sukhi Ghuman.

Ghuman said: “This is a move that has been long in the making. What we will benefit from having Emile in the business is how an elite performer can bring with them the same DNA as a winner in the corporate world.

“Emile understands from his days at the top of football that you need inner strength and determination to succeed, but that we also need to harness our skills and concentrate on our health if Octavian is going to continue to lead the way in our industry. I can’t wait to watch him make a huge impact on Octavian.”

Octavian Security describe themselves as a “one of the world’s fastest growing forward thinking security and facilities management led businesses”.

And the company operates not just within the UK, they have ties in the USA, Middle East, Africa and Turkey.

Their LinkedIn page reads: “Octavian works alongside blue chip and public sector organisations to reduce loss, manage risk, provide manpower resource and generally protect their operations and interests.

“Quality is the Group's mantra, and Octavian openly invites relevant industry bodies to audit its services to ensure that it leads the market in offering superlative efficiency and professionalism to all clients.”

Many former football players have delved into punditry or management including Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney.

Others avoid the beaten track and pursue completely different career paths, including ex-Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who is a biochemical billionaire entrepreneur.

Heskey added: “The business and corporate world offers great rewards for elite athletes and they share so many synergies with elite entrepreneurs.

"It’s my mission to encourage more athletes into the business world to not only learn, but also share their winning mindset and help businesses grow.”

This will be quite the switch up from his playing days from 1994 to 2016.

Within those years he played for the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers.

Across 748 career matches the striker netted 156 goals alongside 62 assists. He also represented England, earning his debut in 1999 and going on to earn 62 caps.
