Recently, Ayankunle Ayanlowo, the lead talking drummer for K1, outlined a few requirements for peace to rule between him and Yorubaland’s Mayegun, King Wasiu Ayinde, the fuji czar.
The dispute between the musician and his drummer spread across the country after the drummer claimed that K1 was not giving his band members the required care, which the musician angrily disputes.
In a private conversation, the drummer in Felele, Ibadan, said, “I want them to settle our fight.” I want people to call us together. Wasiu, who should fear God, should say what’s on his mind, and I should be there to voice my opinions. I can never go back to him, but God knows the elders should step in.

The lead drummer stated, “Part of my condition is that at any location they pick for the peace meeting, if anything happens to me, I would hold the people that call for the meeting responsible and they’ve assured me nothing of sort would happen,” in addition to acknowledging that some religious leaders and traditional rulers have weighed in on the issue.
After 32 years of working with him, I’ve tried and now I want to be on my own! He pleaded, “They should just leave me in peace.”
