Former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes was arrested in connection with a tragic shooting involving his wife, Janette Becraft, in the Lents neighborhood of Portland.
The incident prompted a shelter-in-place order as police responded to the fatal shooting at 6000 SE 100th Avenue. More updates regarding the case have now been revealed, namely the fact that he is currently in the hospital for medical attention.
Haynes was arrested on Thursday after police responded to reports of gunfire at his home in the Lents neighborhood. Following a tense standoff, Haynes eventually emerged from the home and was detained.
Police also assured everyone that there was no ongoing threat to the community. During the inspection, authorities discovered the body of Janette Becraft on the premises.
In an update, Portland Police identified the suspect in the Lents Neighborhood homicide as William Albert Haynes, Jr, 70, the husband of Janette Becraft. Currently in police custody at a local hospital for an unrelated medical condition, he will be booked into jail upon release. Charges will be disclosed after booking.
“The suspect in the Thursday Lents Neighborhood homicide investigation is identified as William Albert Haynes, Jr, 70, of Portland. Haynes is Janette Becraft’s husband.”
“He is in police custody at a local hospital while he is being treated for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide or his contact with law enforcement. Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked.”
