Despite branding himself as ‘The People’s Champ,’ The Rock is perceived as the opposite, especially after Cody Rhodes seemingly handed him his spot at WrestleMania 40. In light of the controversy, a former WWE writer believes The Rock only cares about himself.

During the recent Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock confronted Roman Reigns, intensifying the episode’s conclusion. Cody Rhodes introduced The Great One, relinquishing his WrestleMania 40 title shot and causing outrage among fans.

The Rock also pushed hard for the WrestleMania 40 bout with Roman Reigns. This is because The Rock wanted to save WrestleMania 40 as the match would be true big money affair.

While speaking on Legion of RAW, former WWE writer Vince Russo pointed out that The Rock might be reluctant to lose to Reigns at a major event like WrestleMania. The former WWE head writer argued that in pro wrestling, the focus often revolves around “me, myself, and I.”

“Bro, why would The Rock do the job for Reigns? You think Rock gives one s**t about, pardon my French, one crap about getting more heat on Roman Reigns, which gets more people behind him? Bro, this is the wrestling business. The wrestling business is about me, myself and I.”

WWE is also closely monitoring fan reactions to The Rock’s WrestleMania 40 plans. The Rock and Roman Reigns will have face-off at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff event this week as well. We will have to wait and see if The Rock will end up beating Roman Reigns at The Showcase of The Immortals.

What do you think of what Vince Russo had to say? Do you feel The Rock will ruin WrestleMania 40? Let us know in the comments section below!
