Vince McMahon is currently facing controversy due to a sexual trafficking lawsuit. John Cena would recently comment on Vince McMahon’s allegations, leading to backlash. In light of this, a former WWE writer believes that John Cena made a massive blunder with his remarks.
The Cenation Leader gave an unexpected response, expressing continued respect for McMahon based on their years of association in the Stamford-based promotion. The fact that he said he still loves McMahon set off lot of people.
Speaking on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo explained that Cena could have avoided backlash by adding a line acknowledging potential consequences if McMahon is found guilty. Russo expressed that Cena’s comments would invite criticism without such a disclaimer.
“I am reading Cena’s comments, and I am like, he is going to get hammered for this… I knew Cena was going to get killed for this. There is no way he is NOT gonna get killed for this. I just wish he would have said, you know, you could love him. Same thing with Orton, you know, ‘made your career,’ this that and the other thing. But man if it’s me, I am gonna say all that, but I am also gonna say, ‘But if he is found guilty of these charges… he is gonna have to take full responsibility.’ Atleast say something like that.”
John Cena, absent from WWE television since Crown Jewel last year, remains grateful for McMahon’s support. Therefore, his comments were somewhat expected. We’ll have to see what will become of Vince McMahon in the end.
