Casemiro has poured praise on his Manchester United teammate Kobbie Mainoo after playing with the youngster competitively for the first time.
The pair have now started five consecutive games partnered in midfield together, all of which have been wins for the Reds.
Both players are at opposite ends of their careers; Casemiro is only 31, but has won five Champions League titles and almost every piece of silverware on offer to him throughout his illustrious time in Spain. Meanwhile, Mainoo – just 18 – has emerged into the first-team squad this season and netted his maiden senior goal back in January.
He’s taking each game in his stride and currently, the Carrington graduate is keeping his senior midfield counterparts Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Sofyan Amrabat out of the starting 11.
Mainoo’s frequent outstanding showings have quickly made him one of the hottest prospects in world football, and the Old Trafford faithful are counting their lucky stars that he’s one of their own.
Casemiro believes Mainoo has a high ceiling
Speaking via the club website, Casemiro couldn’t speak highly enough of the teenager, declaring: “First off, I’d like to congratulate Kobbie. He’s only 18 and he’s already a starter at a club like Manchester United.
“It’s not easy, there’s a lot of pressure. But I think United will have a top player for the next years, easily. He’s a top player. He’s exceptional. He’s a humble, hard-working player. He knows how to listen. He’s a great player.
“Since I play alongside him, I know Manchester United will have one of the best midfielders in the Premier League for the next years, easily. I think we have to recognise his value. He’s a great kid. I’m very happy that he’s on our side. As long as he keeps his head on straight, just as he’s doing now, I think we’ll have a great player for many, many years here at United.”
