Actor Anang Desai who was seen in Shahid Kapoor starrer Ishq Vishk spoke about the trend of remakes in Bollywood. While some Hindi movies are remaking it from South movies, some are remaking old classics. Talking about Ishq Vishk rebound and how Bollywood is into remaking movies, Anang Desai said that he’s not a fan of it and feels that showing the same story differently will not create the same magic.

Anang Desai on remakes in Bollywood

While talking about not watching Ishq Vishk Rebound, Anang Desai shared his views about remakes and remixes. The ‘Khichdi’ actor said in Hindi, “Such things shouldn’t happen. Why make remakes and remixes of good films and songs that have achieved landmark status? Think of a new story, make a new film. If you take inspiration from an old film and make something new, that’s a different story, but taking the same story and making a similar film won’t create the same magic. It’s the same when it comes to music. What’s the sense in remixing an old song? What’s your creativity in it? Nothing. The original songs are there and the new ones won’t connect the way they did. Remakes and remixes aren’t nice, they shouldn’t be done.”

When asked his thoughts on South Indian movies being remade for Hindi audiences, the actor said, “Remaking a South Indian film that will be consumed by the audience nationally is a different story. In this case, the story – which is the main aspect of the film, is tweaked to relate to the national audience with an entirely new star cast. The way it’s presented to the audience is also different. Only the story is taken from the OG film.

He continued, “Recently, a Gujarati was remade in Bollywood – Shaitaan and the film worked well in both languages. The reason was the Gujarathi film was made on a regional level and the Hindi on a national level. It’s good when such things happen. But when a film is just a copy-paste of the original film, that’s not good.
