Arsenal will discuss the future of in-form young striker Mika Biereth in the next few days, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has had some impressive loan spells away from Arsenal and it will be interesting to see what happens next for him, as the Gunners could perhaps look to loan him out again and see how he progresses, or else take this opportunity to cash in on him with a permanent sale while his stock is high.

It perhaps seems an uphill task for Biereth to break into Mikel Arteta’s first XI anytime soon, and it seems talks are now expected to take place to settle his situation, according to Romano as he spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column.

Biereth will surely have a lot of interest after doing well at Sturm Graz, but it seems nothing has been decided just yet, according to Romano.

What next for Mika Biereth at Arsenal?

“The future of Mika Biereth will also be discussed in the next few days with Arsenal. No decision has been made yet, we have to wait on this one because Arsenal will decide with player’s camp and at that point it will be clear,” Romano said.

“He’s been on loan at Sturm Graz and performed very well, but it’s still not decided yet if he could go back there or somewhere else, and there’s nothing confirmed yet on if he’ll go out again on loan or leave permanently.”

Arsenal have a proud record of bringing through top young players like this, but at this stage of Arteta’s project it would probably be too risky to promote someone like Biereth into their first-team.

Of course, all top clubs need depth, so the Denmark Under-21 international could perhaps have a role as a squad player, but at the same time the north London giants probably also need to aim higher if they want to finally beat Manchester City to the title next season.
