Mason Greenwood’s future remains up in the air amid reports that Borussia Dortmund are considering his signing.
BVB are, according to Christian Falk’s sources, considering the on-loan Manchester United footballer.
The Bundesliga outfit, however, is also ‘seriously considering’ the allegations surrounding the 22-year-old’s behaviour in England.
“Mason Greenwood: According to our information, it is an issue under consideration by the bosses at Dortmund. However, only in the event that Jadon Sancho (who is currently transfer priority No.1) cannot be kept at the club,” the BILD journalist shared in his exclusive Fact Files column.
“The club are also seriously considering Greenwood’s history in light of allegations of rape and physical assault.
“The future of Sancho will depend on his salary demands. Dortmund can afford to pay the transfer fee but he can’t stay on the same salary he’s enjoying at Manchester United. The Red Devils paid a lot of his salary whilst he was on loan (he earns €10m net (€20m gross) per year) – Dortmund can’t pay this.
“Marco Reus left the club and had been earning €11-13m gross. Nobody earns more than this at Dortmund other than Mats Hummels perhaps (€14m gross). They won’t pay more for Sancho.”
The Getafe forward has registered 16 goal contributions in 36 games whilst on loan with the La Liga outfit.

The allegations around Mason Greenwood

This follows the Red Devils’s decision to suspend the player in January 2022 when allegations were made of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case in question in February the following year after a lengthy investigation into the charges levelled at the attacker.
Greenwood has since gone on to enjoy a successful loan spell in Spanish football in 2023/24. Getafe rewarded the on-loan star with their Player of the Season award as the Azulones finished 12th in the Spanish top-flight.
