Emraan Hashmi recalls how he joined the SRK’s six-pack abs trend
When asked if fluctuation in the diet plan takes a toll on your health, the Selfiee actor told us, “I’ll be honest, I never paid attention to my diet for the first couple of years of my career because back then, there wasn’t a thing. People were not aware of what’s healthy for you and what’s not. Now, it has become a thing with people. People also know about this knowledge because of the internet. I don’t think I was there in the beginning. I think I started paying attention to it when my director told me for the first time that I had to get into a certain physical form, which no other director had told me before. And that was Milan Luthria for ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’, where I had to be toned down and sharp look.”
“At that time there was a trend that started with SRK’s six-pack abs, and that became a sticking point with the publicity of a lot of actors. Everyone wanted six-pack abs, right? I think it was for the song in ‘Om Shanti Om’. So that became a thing, and everyone wanted to jump on that bandwagon. I didn’t want to, but my director told me it was required. That’s when I first hired a proper trainer and started paying attention to my diet,” he continued.
Emraan Hashmi reveals that switching diet for each movie is tough
Furthermore, he added, “Then, there was another film, and then I met another director who said that now I had to gain weight for ‘Shanghai’, which was fun because I got to eat a lot of things. I was basically eating brownies and pizzas, which was great fun throughout the schedule. Then, the third director said that within six months, I had to lose all the weight for ‘Murder 2’, and I had to get back to six packs. And that’s when I realized I am never going to put on that kind of weight because it’s tough. It’s really, really tough, and you need time for that.“
“Not that I would never do it, but you need time. If you have to lose so much weight in less than six months, depending on the weight you gain, you have to go into a major calorie deficit, which is not very healthy for your body.” Emraan concluded.
