Former Nigerian international Dosu Joseph has disclosed that kicking the ball at a tender age was the most challenging period of his football career.

The Atlanta Olympic gold medalist stated this in an interview with Completesports.com, where he said the beginning was what brought the Olympics to him.

He also noted that he received massive support from his parents when he told them about his dream of playing football as a career.

“Kicking the ball at a tender age was the most challenging period of my football career. If I didn’t know how to kick the ball, I wouldn’t be what I am today. The beginning was always rough and tight, but I thank God that in the end, we were able to break through.

“In terms of support, I can categorically tell you that I got massive support from my parents. Mind you, my elder brother played football, so they gave him that support. So when I told them about my dream of playing football, they gave me their support.

“I wasn’t the first; I was the third born.” When the firstborn was given the opportunity, the secondborn followed too. So if you ask me, I will say that our parents supported me in playing football.

“I have won a lot of trophies before winning the Olympic Games. Most importantly, the Olympic games have been the highest ones. But I think the beginning was what brought the Olympics.
