Singer Lakshya Kapoor is a singer who has managed to captivate the hearts of audiences with his soulful voice. The singer – who is also known for his solo tracks and albums, has lent his vocals as a playback singer in movies like Bawaal, Behad and Nahi Jeena. Lakshya Kapoor’s most recent outing as a playback singer was for Mr & Mrs Mahi’s Ranjhana.
But did you know it wasn’t composed for the Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer? During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Lakshya opens up about the song originally being made for the Sidharth Malhotra actioner Yodha and how how it became a part of the Sharan Sharma directorial.
Lakshya Kapoor on Ranjhana being composed for Yodha and not Mr & Mrs Mahi
Talking about Ranjhana being part of the Rajkummar Rao-Janhvi Kapoor starrer, Lakshya Kapoor says, “Mr & Mrs Mahi ke liye yeh gaana bana hi nahi tha. Actually, mera koi gaana tha – with a renowned composer, yeh movie mein. Bohot pyaara gaana tha aur woh shoot bhi hua tha. Mujhe nahi pata what happened at the last moment, edit mein kya change hua. (This song wasn’t made for Mr & Mrs Mahi. Another song of mine was in this film, it was shoot even. But who knows what happened in the end)“
He continued, “Mr & Mrs Mahi ke liye yeh gaana nahi bana tha. Ranjhana was made for Yodha – another Dharma movie. We were in love with the song since Day 1. And jab Kavitaji (Kavita Seth) ne iss gaane ko gaaya toh yeh gaana aur authentic, aur pyaara nikhal ke aaye. It became more beautiful. (It was made for Yodha. When Kavita sang it, the song got more character and authenticity. It turned even more beautiful.) “
Talking about how Ranjhana became a part of Mr & Mrs Mahi, he said, “One fine moment, I got to know they are putting this song in this movie and that’s how they are going to promote it. I was very happy because usse just ek movie pehle Janhvi Kapoor ke saath mera ek gaana bagut hit hua tha. Maybe she’s the lucky charm for my music. That’s how it happened…”
He added, “I saw the video, uska official video 2-3 din mein release hoga which also has a lot of BTS of us dubbing the song. It’s a beautiful video. I’m sure it is going to appeal to more and more people. It’s being loved.”
