With just one game left of the Premier League season, the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool will soon be over, and Arne Slot will be parachuted in to hopefully begin a new cycle of success at Anfield.

Fans of the Merseyside club that have become used to the success that the effervescent German has brought them over the past few seasons might just have to accept the club going back to the drawing board as Slot and his backroom staff attempt to implement a new way of working.

After all, it took Klopp himself a few years to get things how he wanted at the club, so, working on the same basis, Liverpool supporters might be able to consider themselves lucky if the Reds win anything in the first couple of seasons of Slot’s reign.

It’s how his team does on the pitch which will ultimately endear him to the Anfield faithful, or not, and, therefore, the transfer strategy this summer has to be spot on.

According to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of Liverpool’s transfer aspirations once Klopp departs, the Reds are likely to continue to monitor IFK Gothenburg’s 18-year-old player, Malick Junior Yalcouye.

Brentford and other Premier League clubs are also believed to have watched some of the Ivorian midfielder’s matches, though WhoScored note he’s made just three senior appearances this season, accumulating 162 minutes, for the Swedish giants.

Gent, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also apparently ready to compete with those Premier League clubs in order to sign the youngster.

With plenty of time before a decision needs to be made one way or the other, any of the interested parties can continue to keep their ear to the ground for updates on Yalcouye’s progress.

Available for a reported €8m-€10m fee, he will also be well within the reach of most clubs.
