When asked if Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani benefitted from the Kabir Singh controversy, Nikita Dutta said, “It depends on what you’re doing with it. I mean, I feel that as actors, we’ve done our part. We’ve played a character, we’ve been there and our job. And after that, what you do with it… a lot of things might either come your way or go against you because of it. If I have to specifically talk about Shahid (Kapoor) and Kiara (Advani), I think both of them have really, really benefited in their own ways. And it’s not about whether they support it or are against it—it has nothing to do with that. So I guess the idea is to just take it as the characters you’ve played. And not get into the philosophical or ethical side of it.”

Kabir Singh Controversy

The film Kabir Singh sparked controversy due to its portrayal of a volatile and violent character. Some critics describe it as misogynistic, particularly for scenes depicting threats and violence against women. The film’s protagonist, Kabir, is depicted as a surgeon prone to anger and violence. Some scenes show him threatening and behaving abusively towards women. A specific scene where Kabir threatens to rape a woman at knifepoint if she refuses to have sex with him was particularly criticized.
