PSV winger Johan Bakayoko has been linked with Arsenal in recent times, and transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has taken to his exclusive Daily Briefing column to address the speculation.

The talented young Belgian has shone in the Eredivisie and could surely be ready to make the step up to a bigger club and a more competitive league, with Arsenal perhaps in need of someone like him to give them more depth in attack.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest column, Romano explained that it still seems a bit early to know for sure what will be happening with Bakayoko, with developments perhaps more likely in a few weeks’ time rather than now.

Romano also didn’t comment on the specific links with Arsenal, but stated that there is interest from a lot of clubs in both England and Germany ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

“Arsenal have also been linked with Johan Bakayoko of PSV in the Dutch media,” Romano said.

“For now I’m told there are many clubs keen on Bakayoko, but so far nothing is advanced with any particular club. For example there’s interest also from Germany, but from England too…it’s an open situation, but one to develop in the next weeks rather than now.”

If it is indeed an open situation then that could be hopeful for Arsenal, but for now it seems fans of the north London giants will have to be patient, both on this story, and on the links with various big-name strikers.

In another section of his column, Romano also played down talk of Napoli front-man Victor Osimhen becoming a priority for the Gunners, with the club seemingly yet to decide on who they will focus all their efforts on, with other names also seemingly in the mix.
