Radhikka Madan started her acting career with the television show, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, in 2014. Her portrayal of Ishaani in the show propelled her to instant fame and won her multiple awards. A year later, she participated in the celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8. But soon, Radhikka quit the television industry to carve a niche for herself in Bollywood. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, she shares whether it was difficult transitioning from TV to films.
Radhikka Madan believes the tag of TV or movie actor is pretty harsh
Talking about her journey, the actor shares how was it to transition from TV to films. She says, “It was not at all easy. Earlier, you had a tag of either a television actor or a movie actor. There was no space in between. So the tags were pretty harsh. But I never believed in them. I don’t know. Nobody asked me. They asked me after the audition if I had done something or not. So I didn’t experience it as much. But I was scared a lot by other people when they said TV actors are not looked at or called for auditions. Thankfully I didn’t experience that. I auditioned with Mukesh Chhabra, Shanoo Sharma and everyone. And they were very courteous. They didn’t judge me for anything. They were just commenting on what I was performing and that seemed fair at that point.”
She further adds how it’s unfair to attribute actors to mediums and ignore their craft on that basis. She shares, “An actor is an actor. And if they’re able to perform your script, that is it. That’s great.”
During the chat, Radhikka also shared the experience of working with Akshay, facing typecasting, judgments and nepotism. Watch the full chat here:
