Who will be Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Liverpool? Following his announcement a couple of weeks ago, the Reds started to evaluate many options to replace the German coach.
Their preferred profile would seem to be Xabi Alonso, who is seen as the perfect heir to give continuity to Liverpool’s current idea of play.
Bayer Leverkusen wouldn’t want him to leave anytime soon, but they know that it will be difficult for the Spanish manager to say no to a possible proposal from a club where he experienced a large part of his early career as a player between 2004 and 2009.
However, it isn’t only Alonso that is in the frame.
Liverpool are exploring various different avenues and, among others, the name of Roberto De Zerbi has been mentioned, a manager that is highly appreciated by the Anfield hierarchy.
Some evaluations are also underway with regards to the transfer market.
One of the club’s main needs is to sign a new centre-back, possibly left-footed, and the names of Piero Hincapie and Goncalo Inacio are on this list, with the Ecuadorian player well known by Xabi Alonso.
Changes are also expected in midfield with Liverpool preparing to say goodbye to Thiago Alcantara.
The Spanish player will not renew his contract and he has several opportunities from Europe and also from Saudi clubs.
On the list to replace Alcantara are two important names: Khephren Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu.
Let’s keep an eye on Serie A too, as Liverpool target, Teun Koopmeiners, is Juventus’ main priority for the summer with Inter also interested in him.
