As the transfer market begins to heat up, CaughtOffside sources understand that Spanish top-flight team, Villarreal, are looking to plunder Premier League outfit, Wolverhampton Wanders, for two of their players.
Coach of the Yellow Submarine, Marcelino, is believed to be specifically targeting a striker and a winger, with the latter also able to operate as a second striker when needed.
That is seemingly what’s led to the interest in Wolverhampton’s 27-year-old Portuguese player, Goncalo Guedes, who as AS report was once a target for Catalan giants, Barcelona.
Premier League club Wolves set to lose two
CaughtOffside sources indicate that the Midlands-based side have set a reasonable price tag of around €20m for Guedes, though manager, Gary O’Neil, hopes to begin the 2024/25 Premier League season with the Portuguese still part of his squad.
It’s understood too that Marcelino is running the rule over 23-year-old Colombian defender, Yerson Mosquera, who Wolves have yet to place a value on, simply because O’Neil can’t countenance the thought of losing him.
Molineux Stadium, home of Premier League outfit Wolverhampton WanderersVillarreal would test the waters with an opening offer of €9m says sources.
Though losing either player is clearly going to impact on Wolves’ ambitions, if they’re able to bring in a decent amount in transfer funds, it would allow O’Neil to go on a late window spending spree, where there’s likely to be a few bargains to be had.

With almost a month left of the summer window, that would still give the manager a chance to bring new faces into the side without upsetting the team dynamic and dressing room equilibrium.
Transfer deadline day is always exciting for the fans, however, last-minute captures for clubs – some two weeks after the season has started – can rarely be considered good business, particularly if a club has been using the same system and personnel for the majority of pre-season.
