West Ham United are still being patient with new manager Julen Lopetegui even after a nightmare start to the season that has seen them lose their opening three home league games for the first time ever.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Lopetegui’s West Ham future is not yet in any doubt, with the feeling being that the Spanish tactician will need some time to bed in at the club.

Lopetegui is highly regarded from his work in previous jobs, such as at Wolves, and with the Spanish national team, but he’s come in at a time of great change at the London Stadium, with a number of new players joining him through the door this summer.

West Ham fans will hope things pick up soon, but for now it seems the east Londoners will not be rushing into any drastic decisions on their manager.

David Moyes had been doing very solid work with the Hammers, and some fans might well have felt it was harsh to let him go at the end of last season, when he’d won the Europa Conference League final with the club just a year previously.

Still, Lopetegui should prove to be a safe pair of hands, and it’s worth noting that West Ham have had a very difficult start at home with fixtures against Manchester City, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

As time goes on, things should pick up, and there are arguably some positives there for Lopetegui to work with.
