The Chairman of the Ga West Presbytery, Reverend Enoch Adjei Pobee, has urged families to impart their history and languages to their children to inculcate in them a sense of belongingness and pride.

He expressed worry that many children could not speak their mother tongue but rather fluent in the English language.

“Yes it is true we were colonised by the white man therefore English language is common but we must not forget to speak our own language, which could help our children understand and develop our country better,” he said.

He said this at a sod-cutting ceremony for the refurbishment of the church building of Fritz Ramseyer Memorial Congregation, Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in Bubuashie over the weekend.

The refurbishment of the building which is more than 60-year-old is to create enough space to accommodate the increasing number of congregants.

Rev. Pobee stressed that a deeper understanding of history and the local language could provide a foundation for more meaningful engagement with their heritage and community.

Touching on the impatience, he said “the young people of today often lack the patience to wait for what they desire and are always in a rush,” he said.

Rev. Pobee also spoke about the need for Christians to dedicate time to reading the Bible.

“It is essential for Christians to study the Bible and understand the truth so that they are not misled by false prophets,” he said.

Rev. Pobee expressed concern over the growing number of individuals who, under the guise of religious leadership, promote misleading doctrines.

He said there was the need for Christians to be cautious and discerning to avoid falling prey to deception.

Rev. Pobee advised the leaders of the church to prioritise evangelism to rescue souls that were perishing for the Kingdom of God.
