Roy Keane believes Pedro Neto will ‘add to the chaos’ at Chelsea and ultimately flop at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea completed a £54m move for the Portugal winger last week, with Neto signing a seven-year deal with the Blues until 2031.

Neto, who spent five productive years at Wolves, was presented to Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday during a pre-season friendly against Inter Milan.

Chelsea have endured another turbulent summer, changing manager after Mauricio Pochettino agreed to leave and spending almost £200m on a number of signings.

But Keane expects injury-prone Neto to ‘add to the chaos’ in west London and believes he will endure a disappointing first season for Chelsea.

When ex-Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright suggested Neto could be one of the signings of the summer, Keane said on The Overlap: ‘No! He’s always injured! F*** sake. He’s like [Luke] Shaw.

‘He’ll add to the chaos. He’s going to add to the chaos. He will run everywhere and then spend six months on the treatment table with a hamstring injury.’

Following his move to Stamford Bridge, Neto said: ‘I feel really grateful to have joined this club.

‘I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.’

Chelsea begin their 2024-25 campaign on Sunday against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Palmer handed new Chelsea deal

The Blues were reliant on England star Cole Palmer last season and awarded the 22-year-old with a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2033.

‘I’m delighted to sign this new deal,’ said Palmer, who only joined Chelsea last summer from Man City.

‘I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.’
