First 10 Minutes of Film Played, Director & Producer Tease 'Cinematic Event of the Summer'

Brad Pitt and Damson Idris‘ upcoming F1 movie got an extended first look at 2025 CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday (April 1).

While the actors were not in attendance, director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer were on hand to tease the film, which is out this summer, and play the first ten minutes of the movie and we have all the details here (warning: this will contain spoilers!).

“We believe this is going to be the cinematic experience of the summer,” Jerry teased, via THR, promising the movie has “action, romance and humor. It’s truly the ultimate theater experience.”

“We filled your theaters all summer long [with Top Gun: Maverick] to the tune of $1.5 billion. We’re here to tell you that we’re ready to do it again,” he added.

The movie was filmed at real Formula 1 Grand Prix races over the last two years, with them filming final scenes at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last race of the 2024 season. Brad and Damson even crashed a Ferrari team photo!

At CinemaCon, the first ten minutes of the movie were shown. Here’s what goes down:

Per Deadline, “Pitt’s Sonny Hayes is a Daytona winner who walks away with a $5,000 check. However, in the wake of the excitement of the race, he’s washing his clothes at the laundromat. A Porsche pulls up and out steps Javier Bardem’s suede coat-wearing Ruben. He approaches Sonny, and there’s a banter. ‘You remind me of a old friend,’ says Pitt. They go back and forth. Ruben removes his glasses; indeed it’s Sonny’s amigo. But Ruben is in a pickle: He’s $350 million in the hole and needs an F1 driver. Yes, that’s Sonny.”

According to Variety, “The movie opens at the prestigious Daytona race with Pitt’s Sonny Hayes pulling off one dangerous maneuver after another in a desperate bid to maintain his lead. He’s also a loner who lives out of a van and, even after winning Daytona, wants to enjoy an off-the-grid lifestyle. That’s at least until Javier Bardem’s elegant team owner re-appears in his life in need of a daredevil to pull his last-place team into contention.”
