FA Cup: Chelsea eliminate Aston Villa

In need of results in the Premier League, Chelsea gave themselves a little breathing space in the FA Cup this Wednesday on the pitch at Aston Villa.

Neutralized two weeks ago at home by the Villans (0-0), the Blues had to play a 16e final in replay today in Birmingham. With qualification at stake.

Thanks to Gallagher (11e), Jackson (21e) and Fernandez (54e), the Londoners were able to win 3-1, surprised by Diaby alone in added time (90e+1).

So here are Chelsea in the round of 16, for a meeting with Leeds on February 28.

Note at the same time the qualification also of Nottingham Forest at the expense of Bristol (Championship, 2e division). A replay of 16e concluded on penalties while the score was 1-1 after extra time (5 tab to 3).
