Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Jadon Sancho.
The Manchester United winger is the subject of transfer speculation and Stretty News understands that he wants regular football, which is not going to happen at Old Trafford unless he proves himself.
There’s no getting away from the fact Sancho has endured a difficult time at United. After a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag last year, he rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan and played a role in the Bundesliga side reaching the Champions League final.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano explained that he is hearing different to what The Athletic recently reported about Chelsea having an interest in Sancho.
The report in question suggested figures at United were expecting an approach for Sancho from Chelsea.
Romano was unable to verify that information and says Chelsea’s focus has always been on Joao Felix.
“I’m aware there have been some reports of Manchester United expecting Chelsea to move for Jadon Sancho, but my understanding for now is that Chelsea’s full focus was and is on Joao Felix,” Romano said.
“I’m not aware of anything else at this point, but I can also confirm as I said several times that Jadon Sancho’s future is still open. Things can still happen for Jadon, it’s clear feeling on both club and player side. Let’s see what’s going to happen.”
