Liverpool are currently working on a new contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold but that has not stopped the chatter around Real Madrid’s interest in the full-back as more stories continue to emerge.
The England international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and is free to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January 1.
Liverpool plan on keeping Alexander-Arnold long term and according to The Athletic’s James Pearce, dialogue with the representatives of the 26-year-old remains open and ongoing as everyone works towards striking a deal.
However, that has not stopped talks around Real Madrid’s interest in the England international, which has intensified over the last few days since Dani Carvajal suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Marca have reported Real Madrid will make their move for Alexander-Arnold in January, but only if he has not signed a contract renewal at Liverpool by that stage.
If the situation is still open, the La Liga champions will make the Reds star a contract offer, with a view to securing his services for the 2025/26 season. If a pre-contract agreement is reached, the Spanish giants could then try and sign the defender before the winter window closes, but that is a scenario Liverpool are unlikely to be open to.
