Ruben Amorim has been appointed as the new Manchester United manager and he will start work on November 11, during the next international break, before taking charge of his first game against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag was dismissed on Monday and we already know who will replace him in the Old Trafford hotseat. It will be Ruben Amorim, who is seen as one of the highest-rated young coaches in European football.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in charge as caretaker manager for the next three matches, mean he will guide the team into a big game against Chelsea this weekend before PAOK and Leicester City.
There’s a bit of excitement building at Old Trafford with the hope that we will now see a clear style of play from the team. That wasn’t clear enough under Ten Hag, but he delivered success during his time at the club with two trophies.
Diogo Dalot provides insight into Ruben Amorim
Photo by Shaun Botterill/Getty ImagesSky Sports have asked Diogo Dalot for his immediate thoughts on Amorim becoming United manager. He sounds excited by the prospect of working with his new coach and expects him to be very demanding on his players.
“He’s obviously a fantastic coach, a young mentality but at the same time he knows what he wants”, Dalot explained.
“Very demanding, that’s what I can expect and I think that’s a perfect match for a club like this.
“The standards are really high, I hope that it can be a really good match and win together.”

This should be enough to get United fans excited if today’s announcement didn’t do that for you.
Dalot will now be managed by a fellow countryman, the second Portuguese coach to manage United after Jose Mourinho, who he had an internship with at United in 2018.
The pair have an obvious relationship. You can tell that from Dalot’s insight into him as a manager.
