Farewell: Another Star Departs AEW As Contract Expires

He’s out? AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works as the company offers wrestler a high level promotion besides WWE. This is something that has been lacking for a very long time now and several former WWE wrestlers have come to AEW to showcase their talents. This does not mean they will be around permanently though and now one seems to have departed.

According to Bodyslam.net, Jake Hager is done with AEW with his contract recently expiring. This would make him a free agent and allows him to sign with any promotion he chooses. The decision is said to have been a mutual one with Hager choosing to not re-sign. Hager has not wrestled for AEW since February 23 and is already booked for an independent event in July.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Hager has not done much recently in AEW, which is rarely a good sign. At the end of the day, he was mainly used as part of a stable or in some kind of comedy deal, which is only going to give you so much of a shelf life. Hager is someone who could be useful elsewhere, but his time in AEW has come to a close without making the biggest impact.
