Frenkie de Jong’s ankle is far from being cured. At the end of last season, the Dutchman had chosen conservative treatment (without surgery) in order to play in the Euro, unfortunately the midfielder was unable to return in time. Worse still, he still feels pain and the risk of relapse is high. Hansi Flick was not optimistic either in a press conference.

I hope he doesn’t need surgery. He’s made a big step forward. We have to see how he develops. We’re going training by training. I hope he’ll be back after the international break, but I can’t guarantee anything. We’ll see what happens in the coming days.” warns the German coach of Barça.
