FC Barcelona has two big priorities for the transfer window

At FC Barcelona, the slimming down operation continues. After selling Marc Guiu to Chelsea, having made official the departure of Marcos Alonso and those of João Cancelo and João Félix – before deleting the publication – Barça is looking to free up wages with other players in order to redesign the squad for Hansi Flick, the new Catalan manager. And in the meantime, other sales and a new financial lever, Deco, the sporting director, is active on the transfer window.

And as reported SportFC Barcelona assures that the 2023-24 financial year will close with a profit and that the club will be able to operate in the transfer market. Good news, then, since Deco has targeted two priority positions: first, the midfielder, where Amadou Onana, Mikel Merino and Joshua Kimmich have been named as priorities. Kimmich is the player that Flick appreciates the most, because he knows him well from having worked with him at Bayern Munich, who do not intend to put a price on Barça to let him go.

Barça dreams of a great winger

Valued at between 30 and 40 million euros when his contract expires in 2025, the German international, open to leaving, is targeted by other foreign clubs. Which does not help Flick’s business, while a potential arrival of Amadou Onana, Deco’s favorite target, is also complicated, because negotiations with Everton are difficult. The other big priority of the transfer window is Nico Williams. Despite several names mentioned to strengthen its attack, Barça has now made the Athletic Bilbao winger a more than priority target.

Having shone during the European Championship with La Roja, the 21-year-old winger has a release clause set at €58 million. The competition will therefore be complicated for Barça, but the Catalan club knows that the Spanish striker would be delighted to play alongside his great friend, Lamine Yamal. The summer transfer window is currently complicated for FC Barcelona, who hope to quickly release funds to convince players to come.
